Vortal won the international public tender for the provision of an electronic public procurement platform for the Republic of Colombia, defeating other major global players in this sector.
The contract, valued at 2.7 million euros and with a two-year duration, aims at providing Vortal solutions to 6,500 public contracting authorities in central and local governments, providing for 600,000 public tenders and an award volume of more than 20 billion USD per year.
Vortal significantly enhances its international business through this deal, and finally marks its presence in Latin America, allowing it to create a development platform for other markets.
For success in this tender, the scalability, configurability and usability of the Vortal technology platform was crucial, as recently highlighted by Gartner, as was Vortal's vast experience of e-purchasing in public and private markets, as well as the fact that the company is also the market leader in Spain, a country of reference to all Spanish speakers.
Vortal estimates that its turnover will grow by 15% in 2013 and 25% in 2014, in particular in the international markets, with Europe leading the way. The company is implementing various ongoing recruitment processes in areas that include project management, software development, product management, quality assurance and functional analysis, with a view to increasing its staff by around 40% by the end of 2014.
